In the fall of 1987, I launched "The Wizard Selection Sheet", analyzing races and making selections daily for the New York racing circuit. I would handicap the day's card, type the sheet, make copies, then drive around New York City in the wee hours of the morning to distribute it to newsstands. I realized back then that there was a need to provide valuable and well-written information to help players become more successful.

Times have changed, technology has advanced, and I can now make my products available worldwide. But one thing has not changed, and that is that Wizard Publications continues to set the standard for handicapping selections and wagering guides.

Wizard Publications has expanded over the years to include more tracks, and with that growth, I have recruited and further trained a team of worldclass handicappers. I have also focused more than most other industry products on fan education, which I believe will not only help the individual horse racing fan and bettor to have a better experience, but will also help the game as a whole to grow by expanding the fan base. To that end, I have created products that address wagering strategies, including more difficult strategies like trifectas, dime superfectas, and the wide array of multi-race wagers. Every product is intended to help readers not only have their best chance at making a profit at the races, but also to become better handicapers and players.

My Betting Window, for example, gives suggested wagers for each race, and is updated after late scratches, 30-60 minutes before first post. • RULE 1: The amount you wager on any race should be within your comfort level.
• RULE 2: Do not force bets. Passing a race is just as important as betting one. There is always tomorrow.
• RULE 3: Increase the amount you wager when you are winning, decrease when you are losing.
• RULE 4: Be flexible in your thinking. Late scratches, a track bias spotted during the day and physical appearance are just some of the factors that can change the complexion of a race and wagers.
• RULE 5: Do not be a slave to one type of handicapping system or school of thought. Rely on your instincts!
• RULE 6: Each race requires a different betting strategy, especially with the vast wagering opportunities.
• RULE 7: Research quality on-line wagering sites which offer cash rebates. Playing without one puts you at a big disadvantage.
• RULE 8: The mute button on your remote allows you to tune out racing analysts who hurt you more than help you.
• RULE 9: Don't believe you can't make money betting favorites. Exactas, Trifectas, Pick 3's-4's and other multi-race wagers are options to just simple Win betting.
• RULE 10: Don't listen to "inside information". Win or lose, these horses are usually way over-bet.
